This is a blend between Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Riesling grapes.
On the 6th of September 2022 we picked the Pinot Noir from Weingut Nägele in Baden. 40 year old vines on clay and calcareous soil, farmed organically. 70% whole bunch and 30% destemmed. With some light foot stamping on the grapes to create a carbonic maceration.
On the 9th September 2022 we picked the Pinot Gris from Weingut Achenbach in Neu Bamberg, Rheinhessen. 20 year old vines on sandstone soil. Whole bunch co-fermented with the Pinot Noir grapes for 10 days.
Once the Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris juice was dry, we added Riesling from 2021, which we aged in a 225L barrel for one year.
The blend then continued to age together for some months in 500L old oak barrels.
There is a lot of freshness in this wine. With a beautiful balance between the red berry expression from the Pinot Gris and a blackcurrant explosion from the Pinot Noir. The aged Riesling brings structure and a zingy kick of acidity. Delicious!
Serve slightly chilled.
