Cyrille Vuilloud, La Dernière Goutte
Vaux-en-Beaujolais, France
100% Gamay - 12% abv
Cyrille has 5 hectares of old and young Gamay grapes on the edge of Brouilly in Beaujolais. The vines are planted on a mix of pink granite, sand, clay and silex soil.
There is 20 days of carbonic maceration and it's aged for 5 months in concrete vats. No added sulfites.
This wine from Cyrille has an upbeat acidity with lots of red fruits and spices on the palate. Not to be mistaken for any old Gamay, this wine has enough structure and depth to stand its ground.
Recommend adding a slight chill to the bottle. Drink it quickly, it won't last with too much exposure to oxygen.
